Florida VINE through VINELink is a custody-status and notification layer. Florida materials identify county jails, FDC, and the Department of Juvenile Justice as participating systems. For Hillsborough County, the relevant contributors are HCSO and FDC. A person can therefore have a county booking record and a separate state record, so the reporting agency and identifier must be checked before relying on a match.
VINE means Victim Information and Notification Everyday. Its function is to report a contributing agency's status and let a registrant receive changes. A reported release or out-of-custody event supports the conclusion that the contributing agency ended custody. A transfer event means custody may continue elsewhere. VINELink does not replace HCSO's release detail, FDC's release history, or a court order.

Search Hillsborough County on VINELink
Begin with enough facts to separate the person from similar names. The agency identifier is especially useful. Hillsborough VINELink Release Fields
The live record may vary with the contributing source. The verified inventory supports jurisdiction, name or offender identifier, custody status, reporting agency or facility, and notification methods. Do not promise a photograph or projected date on every VINELink result. State sentence dates belong to FDC's computation.

A released HCSO result does not establish the final court disposition. It also does not rule out an FDC, federal, or ICE transfer. Match the agency first, then follow the receiving system when the event says transfer.
For an HCSO match, compare the VINELink event with the sheriff's booking number and release date. HCSO's public inquiry remains searchable for 90 days after release and refreshes on a published 30-minute cycle. If the VINE status and the sheriff detail differ, the originating HCSO record controls the jail fact. Contact Inmate Records when the public record does not explain a transfer, bond, or hold.
Note: A record that disappears is not proof of release; search HCSO or FDC and contact VINE when status is uncertain.
Register Hillsborough Release Notifications
Registration attaches to the selected record, not merely to a name. Review the reporting agency and identifier again before saving contact details. This reduces the risk of following the wrong booking or state record.

- Select the available phone call, text, or email methods and enter each destination accurately.
- Create the four-digit PIN used to acknowledge telephone notifications. Florida's form says the last four telephone digits become the default if no PIN is selected.
- Continue to the review screen, confirm the person and all notification methods, then complete final registration.
- Keep the confirmation and update the registration if a phone number or email address changes.
Phone calls continue until the PIN acknowledgment, while texts and emails generally do not repeat. Florida VINE lists 1-877-846-3435 for automated offender information around the clock. An undelivered alert can still occur, so direct agency verification remains necessary.
Save enough context to recognize the notice when it arrives: the reporting agency, facility, identifier, and the type of event requested. A notice about transfer should prompt a search of the receiving system. A release notice should prompt a check of HCSO or FDC. Do not assume that a text or email supplies the legal release reason, final court outcome, or supervision terms.
Hillsborough VINELink Release Limits
VINELink does not cover the BOP or ICE systems. A federal sentenced prisoner belongs in the BOP Inmate Locator, while a USMS pretrial defendant is traced through the federal court docket because USMS has no public prisoner locator. An immigration transfer calls for ICE's locator and Tampa ERO follow-up. None of those systems can confirm an ordinary HCSO discharge.
For Hillsborough County jail custody, search HCSO Arrest Inquiry with Current Inmates Only unchecked and read the correct booking's release date. For a state prisoner, use FDC Inmate Release and then Supervised Population if post-prison supervision may follow. A future FDC Release Date is a projection, while a past release entry and Date Out-Custody provide stronger confirmation.
FDC's search separates current inmate population, inmate release, supervised population, and absconder records. That separation matters after a VINELink event. A person can be out of prison and still appear under state supervision. An absconder result means failure to remain available to supervision; it does not prove present jail custody. County probation is excluded from FDC, so the sentencing court is the proper route for that local status.
Florida Release Notification Layers
FDC Victim Services maintains a separate notification route for qualifying state requests. Its form lists release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movement notices. Updating direct VINELink registration does not update the separate FDC file, and changing the FDC file does not automatically change VINELink. Keep both current when both apply.
FDC Victim Services is available at 1-877-884-2846 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Its official notification request applies to the state corrections layer. HCSO remains the source for Hillsborough jail release facts.
These layers also differ in maintenance. The direct VINELink registration follows the selected live record. FDC's form supports its separate victim-services file. A move, release, escape, death, or out-to-court event may be part of the state notice set, but the exact event still needs confirmation in the FDC record. Updating contact information in one system does not update the other.
Keep the selected offender identifier with the confirmation so later notices can be matched to the same Hillsborough County or FDC record.
Hillsborough Registries Are Separate
The FDLE Sexual Offender and Predator Search is a continuing registry for the subset of people with a legal duty to register. It is not a list of all released inmates. The FDLE Career Offender Registry is also limited to statutory designations and qualifying sanctions. An absent registry entry says nothing about an ordinary Hillsborough County release.
